Vancouver - The Best City In The World

The beautiful city of Vancouver is located in the Southwestern corner of British Columbia
Canada; on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Being overlooked by the Coast Range Mountains and surrounded by water on three sides
the city has a landscape that truly takes your breath away.

The Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) has everything from Beaches
mountains and 192 beautiful parks to a cosmopolitan downtown area
fabulous shopping and entertainment. Due to it's location it has a mild climate
which means not too much snow in the winter and pleasant temperatures in the summer
but it does to tend to have a lot of rain. The average annual rain and snow fall is 1219mm.

As Canada's third largest city
the downtown area has a population of 514
0
(1996 census) and the GVRD has a population of almost two million.

according to the 1996 census 45 percent of residents were immigrants. According to international surveys
Vancouver is one of the best cities in the world for quality of life. It is also ranked
along with four other Canadian cities
as one of the safest cities in North America.

The Greater Vancouver Regional District comprises 21 separate municipalities – each is home to several hundred thousand people and many were once cities in their own right before being swallowed up by the urban sprawl. The actual city of Vancouver itself is made up of 23 different Neighborhoods - each having its own distinct character.

There are many wonderful places to visit
shop and eat in. This includes a vast number of galleries
sophisticated shopping and antique shops to choose from. Chinatown is one of the largest in North America and is a thriving commercial and residential district.

Gastown is the historical part of the city with cobblestone streets
heritage buildings
shops
restaurants and galleries. It's located just south of the harbor and is a vibrant place.
Located just under the Granville Street Bridge is Granville Island Market which offers a mix of food

The city has many tree lined streets and no highway cutting through the city so walking is encouraged. It is illegal to cross the street anywhere but at a marked intersection crossing in the city.

There is an excellent public transport system which consists of buses
Seabus
Skytrain and a commuter rail service called the West Coast Express. This is an integrated system and you can use the same tickets for different modes of transport. There is also an extensive system of bikeways
so cycling is another good way to get around.

The Port of Vancouver rates number one in North America in total foreign exports and is the gateway for Asia-Pacific trade. It has a natural deep water harbor and covers 233 kilometers of coastline. In 2003 its total cargo traffic was 66.7 million tones. The Port is also home to the Vancouver - Alaska cruise

The city Aquarium is situated 5 minutes from downtown in Stanley Park. They are a self supporting and not for profit group and are Canada's leading aquatic conservation organization. Open year round they have many different types of marine life to learn about and a daily schedule of shows.

The Vancouver Canucks are one of the strongest teams in the NHL (Ice Hockey) and with the BC lions always very competitive
there is a good supply of sports choices.

Vancouver is without doubt the most impressive city I have ever stayed in and is a must to visit if you are in Canada. Undoubtedly one of the most expensive places to buy property in Canada but with the amount the city has to offer I can understand why. Valencia Spain - What A Great Travel Experience

Valentia
dating back to 137 B.C.
is what we now know as Valencia
Spain. If there was any confusion as to where Valencia is or what it is known for
the city's renovation with breathtaking architecture turned into museums
aquariums and Imax cinemas plus the hosting of the world famous America's Cup 2007 has definitely put it on the map. Valencia has gone through all kinds of cultures
taking advantage of each one's contributions
from the Romans through the Arabs
the Catholic Kings with Ferninand and Isabel
the dictatorship of Franco up to the democratic Spain which now exists. All of this and all that is happening nowadays is what has made Valencia
Spain what it is today and what it will be tomorrow.

Starting in the 70's
this Mediterranean city began hosting important congresses
now even better equipped with the new vanguard Music Auditorium and Congress hall built in 1988 in the old river-bed of the Turia River. A little further down the river-bed
you will find an impressive group of four white modern buildings
each one offering beauty to the eyes from the outside and an eye-opening experience on the inside. This is the biggest cultural free time resort within a city in all Europe.

The City of the Arts and Science consists of:

1.The Oceanographic Park
A spectacular revelation of the different phases of marine life
bringing what was once far away and unknown
close to the human eye.

2.Hemispheric Planetarium
Brought about so that once again
the spectator can experiment for themselves the attractive sensations of what space is all about. Through the most modern technology with Imax cinemas and laser shows
you are brought so close to outer space through impacting images and sounds.

3.The Prince Philip Science Museum
This was designed to house permanent science theme related expositions and modern technology.

4.The Arts Palace
This building will soon be completed and will be destined to the creation and diffusion of the scenic arts.

Heaps of fun for everyone in Valencia

There are so many other attractions for everyone's likings
all located inside the city centre and very easy to get to by bus
metro or car hire
such as the IVAM ( Valencian Institute of Modern Art )
Guillen de Castro Street no. 118
open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. It usually costs 2 euros but Sundays and holidays are free. The Palace of the Marquee of Dos Aguas
found in a beautifully decorated alabaster building on the outside and typical Valencian ceramic and horse carriages on the inside. It is found on Poeta Querol Street no. 2
open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 to 2
from 4 to 8 but Sundays and holidays only from 10 to 2. Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings it is free and on the other days it costs 2.50 euros. But do not stop here
visit one of the many tourist offices within the city centre and get free information and timetable for all.

Las Fallas
the most popular street celebration in Valencia dating back to the 16th century is quite an event. It is celebrated from March 15th to 19th
where during five long days and nights you can enjoy seeing over 350 huge carton monuments on almost every corner
religious parades made up of the local lads and lassies dressed in beautiful brocade vestiments
offering bouquets of flowers to the Virgen Mary. All this can be seen in and around the Basilica Square where the flowers are artistically made into the Virgen's cape
with the baby Jesus held in her arms. But if you could not plan your visit or flight for these days
there is a fantastic Fallas Museum in the Monteolivete Square no. 4 which is the home of the most voted figures which have been saved from being burnt
which is the highlight of this celebration.

Valencia
Spain and its sea adventure

All that has been mentioned before has been and will continue to be part of this city's life for a long time
but the Americas Cup 2007
the most important yachting and sailing event in the world will only happen once. So if you are still planning some fantastic vacations and want a lot of new thrills
catch a flight to Valencia and book your hotel early to make sure that your holidays will be smooth sailing!

Valencia And Wine

Valencia is famous for its wine production; many of its wines are exported overseas for use in restaurants
or for personal use. Valencia’s weather climate and soil consistencies form the perfect conditions for wine production.

Wine is a delicacy to be served with meals and on special occasions. Valencia is well known for its fiestas and celebrations throughout the year
so wine is often a part Valencia’s lifestyle.

Knowing which type of wine to select with your meal
or to give as a present is important
as you will want to compliment your dinner with the right wine
or surprise your guest with a wine that suits their tastes.

Essentially
there are types of wine and all of some of these are more suitable to certain types of foods than others. White wines usually go well with white meat dishes
such as fish and chicken
while red wines traditionally go with red meat and pasta dishes.

Generally
there are sweet and dry wines
which can be found in both white and red wine varieties. If you are looking for a sweet white wine you might choose a Riesling. Leaving the grapes on the grape vines for a longer period of time makes sweet wines.

When looking for a sweet red wine you might try a merlot
or a cabernet sauvignon
both of which a delightful sweet red wine varieties. If looking for a dry white wine
you might try a Pinot Noir
or Sauvignon Blanc and if looking for a dry red wine you might try a Shiraz.

All wines should be chilled either in a fridge
or bucket of ice
prior to drinking
as this allows you to derive the most benefit from the wines flavors and experience. Also
most consumable wines are designed to be drunk within a few years from being made
so if you are buying wine for your cellar
keep this in mind.

Well
now that you know a little bit more about wines
you can enjoy Valencia’s wines by making the right choices. Valencia wines can be sampled in its many restaurants and also at the Spanish Wine Festival
known as the ‘La Rioja Wine Festival’.

The ‘La Rioja Wine Festival’ Wine Festival is a celebration of Spanish wines and
during this time
there are events and wine tasting
dinners and lots of merriment. Valencia also holds many fiestas throughout the year
which feature food and wine
such as the ‘La Tomatina’ Fiesta and the ‘Fiesta Fallas de San Jose’.

Vacation in Dubai

Dubai is such an exciting and diverse travel destination that it attracts millions of visitors annually – particularly during the winter months when the weather is perfect for every single activity from sunbathing and scuba diving to camel racing and desert safaris.

If you’re planning a trip to Dubai here’s a guide to the types of attractions and activities you and your family can plan on enjoying.

First things first
as stated the winter months from November through to March are the most popular time of the year to visit the emirate. The weather is perfect with daily sunshine and high temperatures but the sun is not at its most intense which means that visitors can actually get out and about and not have to avoid the desert heat that radiates excessively in Dubai in the summer.

In January each year Dubai plays host to the now world famous Dubai Shopping Festival
a retail extravaganza that annually attracts in excess of 3.3 million visitors who come to enjoy the month long festival and associated celebrations.

The shopping festival is such a hit because the luxury bargains that tax free Dubai is world renowned for are available at sale prices for example
and every single day there are incredible prizes to be won from luxury cars to substantial cash lump sums! Add to this the fact that the Dubai Shopping Festival is a family experience and has daily events and activities for children and nightly firework displays for example and you can see why January is such a great time to be vacationing in Dubai.

Once you’ve shopped in the gold souk and the incredibly luxurious malls and marketplaces you might like to get away from the crowds and head out away from the emirate into the desert on a camel or jeep safari; alternatively you could try sand skiing
dune or wadi driving and then have a desert picnic feast.

Heading back into Dubai there are two great ways to get to know more about this historic and incredibly interesting city – a visitor can either take to the air or the water ways and get a unique glimpse of the emirate. Taking an aerial tour of Dubai in a helicopter is a once in a lifetime experience; or for those who prefer something more sedate why not cruise Dubai’s waterways in a traditional wooden dhow.

For those who’re after a more action packed experience from their vacation in Dubai why not try thunder bowl
horse riding in the desert
go karting
golf
ice skating or deep sea fishing? And for those with traveling to Dubai with children there are a whole host of exciting adventure parks to try from Dubai Wonderland to Wild Wadi
from Magic Planet to the soon to be completed Snow Dome.

Whatever type of event
activity or attraction you’re after Dubai can satisfy your every whim. With daily cultural events
nightly entertainment activities and a whole world within one emirate waiting to be discovered what are you waiting for? Book your vacation today!

One great place for a family trip is Hershey
Pennsylvania. Home of Milton Hershey
founder of the Hershey's chocolate company
this small town is a great family spot. The town of Hershey is right in the middle of Pennsylvania Dutch country
and side trips to the Amish villages and farm stands can provide a learning experience for everyone in the group. Hershey's Chocolate World
located right in the center of Hershey
is a free chocolate tour and factory experience that's open year-round (closed Christmas day). This educational but really fun tour is great for all ages. After you are done
you can spend some time in the Hershey Marketplace Shops
the Hershey Caf้s or even take a trolley ride through the streets of Hershey USA. For chocolate lovers
this is paradise.

a theme park that has rides for kids of all ages! While you are in Hershey
